Theme: Best Foot Forward

“Sure your feet are sweet and precious when you’re a baby, but as you grow, without a lot of TLC and through considerable use and abuse, they may become far less adorable. If you have a fetish for foot photography, submit your photos here!”

“For more inspiration check out these featured photos in the JPG Blog. Then submit your own JPG foot shots, today!”

 – jpgmag.com

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of feet, especially other people’s feet. Before this theme even debuted, I had uploaded a photo to my JPG profile and it just so happened to be a pictured of my foot. Why was I taking pictures of my feet you may ask? Well music tends to be a source of inspiration for me, especially for the titles of my work, and this time I was inspired by the song “Tiptoe” by Imagine Dragons. I was lucky enough to be a featured photo in JPG’s blog post “Best Foot Forward” that was then developed into this theme. Who knew my foot was going to be so popular? Haha.

Photo Challenge: Rural Living

This challenge is all about the quiet countryside, away from the busy and noisy city limits. Farms, single room school houses, land that stretches out for miles; this is what rural life is about…”

jpgmag.com

Rural living eh? Well I’ve photographed my fair share of countryside over the years, so this photo challenge hits home for me. I decided to enter “Knee-high,” one of my all time favorite photographs, into this challenge. I even have this one printed on a 24×36 canvas. Sitting in the pasture amongst the wildflowers with my cowgirl boots on, well that just says country to me…

Photo Challenge: Layers

“This photo challenge is all about layers! Neapolitan Ice Cream, onions, artichokes, sandwiches, the Earth’s crust, all these have layers; show us your layers!!”

 – jpgmag.com

What a fun photo challenge! So many options to explore, time to get creative! Get out there and find some layers!

I’m keeping my photo “Subtle Fringe” under wraps *wink wink, nudge nudge* because I want you to guess what I used in my layers photograph.  If you have an idea of what’s pictured in the photograph below, then feel free to leave a reply with your guess. I’d love to hear what you think! (For a better view, click the photo!)

Making the Blog…JPG Photo Challenges…

I know it has been quite some time since I’ve made a blog post…I’m really horrible at this whole blogging thing xD But I’m here now, so let’s do this!

In this post, I’ll be featuring a gallery of my photographs that have been featured on JPG News Blog so far this year. Since I have not been making Photo Challenge posts recently, I figured this would be a good way to catch you up on some of my photography activity. I’m still very active on jpgmag.com as well as my Facebook page, so if you keep up with my work on either of those two sites then Thank You!

To link to the photos featured in this gallery on jpgmag.com, please see the Media page.

P.S.

There may be some exciting activity here on my blog in the coming months, as I may attempt to blog my “Grand Adventure.” You’ll just have to wait and see! xD

Happy Shooting!

Photo Challenge: Musical Instruments

“For this challenge it is all about the beauty of a musical instrument. Get up close and personal, capturing each curve, string, and key of your favorite musical instrument.” – jpgmag.com

For this Photo Challenge, I was able to get my hands on my old clarinet that my mother still had stuffed in her closet xD I played this back in middle school and I’m surprised it’s still around. It’s not as shiny as it used to be, but it can still pose for photographs…

Photo Challenge: 2013 Resolutions

“This challenge is all about the resolutions we make on New Year. Is yours to lose weight, or to recycle more, to volunteer or to get out and take more photographs? Whatever your New Year resolution is we would like to see!” jpgmag.com

Yep, it’s another Photo Challenge from JPG! For this challenge I decided to photograph something near and dear to my heart, sugar! xD I know I know, it’s not very good for you, but I know I’d just die without it. But since this challenge is about New Year resolutions I thought I’d make mine “one less spoon full” or in other words, cut down on the sugar filled foods I love to eat.

Photo Challenge: What Goes Up, Must Come Down; Stairs

Earlier this week, one of JPG Magazine’s latest Photo Challenges closed for submission. I decided to enter a photo just in time though, and was lucky enough to have this great shot of a stairway down to the beach.

“For this challenge it’s all about the different kinds of staircases there are; color, texture, shape, etc. Stairs can be captured at different angles, cropped, and playing with the light can change the overall mood.”

One of the keys to this photo challenge was not only did your image need to be focused around stairs, but it had to have been taken within the last six months. I took this photo back in October, so my photo made the cut.

Although I was able to submit to the challenge, I did not make it to the “best of” blog post. There were lots of creative and eye tantalizing submissions; what awesome POVs (point of views). To check out some of the best of the best just follow the link below…

Photo Of The Week: 11.19.12

For this week’s Photo of The Week, I’m featuring a photo I submitted to one of JPG’s Photo Challenges which focused on the color white in color photography. This photo challenge is closed, but I encourage you to look through the photos that made it to the “best of” by clicking the link below.

Photo Challenge: White in Color Photography

I captured this tabby house while visiting Cumberland Island off the coast of Georgia. I’ll be posting a gallery of my visit to Cumberland Island here on my blog in the near future.

Photo Challenge: Something Strange Comes This Way

This challenge is all about the strange, the whimsical, the bizarre, and the scary. Photograph anything from objects to places. Halloween is just around the corner, so get in the spirit with JPG Magazine’s Photo Challenge “Something Strange Comes This Way.”

I chose to submit a photo of a place that utters spooky. My photo “Beneath Strickland” features the Old Remerton Mill, also known as the 1899 Strickland Cotton Mill, within the city limits of Valdosta, GA.

You may remember this historic mill from a previous post titled Photo Challenge: Art Crimes. This historic mill was being threatened with demolition, and since my last post, the mill has been scheduled for demolition.
