Summer Flickers

“We had a pair of woodpeckers nest in an old rotted tree in our backyard back in June. After some research, I found out they were yellow-shafted Northern Flickers also known as the Yellowhammer, the state bird of Alabama. I spent some time waiting for the parents to arrive at the nest and listening to the incessant calls of the hungry nestlings. I think I was just as impatient as the nestlings; we were all happy when they would finally arrive again, for me to capture them in photographs and the nestlings to get another meal…”

Want to know more about these gorgeous birds? Just click a photo to enlarge and read the captions…

Making the Blog…JPG Photo Challenges…

I know it has been quite some time since I’ve made a blog post…I’m really horrible at this whole blogging thing xD But I’m here now, so let’s do this!

In this post, I’ll be featuring a gallery of my photographs that have been featured on JPG News Blog so far this year. Since I have not been making Photo Challenge posts recently, I figured this would be a good way to catch you up on some of my photography activity. I’m still very active on as well as my Facebook page, so if you keep up with my work on either of those two sites then Thank You!

To link to the photos featured in this gallery on, please see the Media page.

There may be some exciting activity here on my blog in the coming months, as I may attempt to blog my “Grand Adventure.” You’ll just have to wait and see! xD

Happy Shooting!

Paper Punch Heart Garland – An Art Project

Here is a new art project that I’ve been working on lately. I found this idea via, which is a site I’m sort of obsessed with, and I know millions of other people are too. If you haven’t checked out yet, go ahead and take a look; it’s a great place to visit for inspiration, from cooking to crafting.

This Pin is from, and all you need are some paint swatches, a heart punch (or any shape you would like to use), a needle, and some thread. For my heart garland, I used textured paint swatches I found at Lowes home improvement store. This project is super easy; all you need to do is sew together your shapes with needle and thread to create your crafty garland. These could be used as decorations for parties or as photo props. I’m looking forward to using mine as props for engagement and maternity sessions. I hope you like this super easy but incredibly cute art project.

Happy Shooting!
